Back in February I visited Farnley reservoir with Yorkshire Water, who look after the site, after local residents got in touch with me to raise concerns about its condition. We had a constructive meeting and talked about what more could be done to make the area cleaner.

Yorkshire Water agreed that they would look at organising a volunteer day for their staff and the public to visit Farnley reservoir and help clear up the litter. This has been too difficult for volunteers to do so they will instead look at hiring professionals to clean up the reservoir. As well as this, Yorkshire Water said that they would also look at saving some money to fund bigger improvements to Farnley reservoir in the future.

I agree that more should be done to make sure that the area is kept clean for the local wildlife and environment, and to ensure it is an enjoyable place to visit.

This is an issue that I will keep pushing as it is important to keep our local environment safe and clean and look forward to what Yorkshire Water proposes to do.
