We came up to the first anniversary of the murder of my friend and colleague, Jo Cox MP as she did the job she loved – serving her constituents, attending a surgery to help people in Birstall. Jo is so deeply missed by all her friends, family and everyone whose lives she touched. The anniversary of her murder is a chance to remember Jo and honour her memory and to hold in our thoughts Jo’s family – including her husband Brendan and their two young children as well as Jo’s parents and sister. Jo was, and continues to be, an inspiration to us all.

Since Jo was killed, I have been co-chairing the Jo Cox Loneliness Commission with Jo’s friend, the Conservative MP Seema Kennedy. A project Jo set up but never lived to realise.

As I said when Jo died it now falls on all our shoulders to take forward the causes Jo championed and was passionate about. Doing this work, taking forward Jo’s vision is a way of remembering Jo and ensuring her legacy endures.
