Rachel welcomes Lawnswood School to Parliament

Recently, Rachel met with a group of female sixth formers from Lawnswood School in Leeds. The group was led by Ruth Dass, the founder of Connecting Enterprising Women in Yorkshire.

Following a tour of Parliament, the students had the opportunity to talk with Rachel about her experiences as a female MP and member of the Shadow Cabinet, and the pupils asked Rachel questions about what is like to be an MP, and what led her to representing Leeds West.

Ruth Dass was also presented with the ‘Points of Light’ award at the event, in recognition of her outstanding work as a volunteer in helping young women to network and raise their aspirations through Connecting Enterprising Women.

The group also had the opportunity to watch a debate in the House of Commons from the gallery and were excited to see the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition debate.

Rachel would like to thank the group for coming to Parliament and for an engaging conversation, and hopes that they enjoyed their trip to London!
