This weekend on 5^th December, Rachel celebrated Small Business Saturday on Armley Town Street. 

With lots of independent businesses on Armley Town Street there were plenty of small business owners to support at the weekend, with local community groups leading the way in shopping local and supporting the Credit Union.

St George’s Crypt Café were on standby to refresh tired shoppers with great value tea and cake, and the local Eastern European food stores were selling more delicious bread.

Rachel said: “I was delighted to learn that local faith groups in Armley were out with Leeds Citizens on Small Business Saturday to build relationships with businesses on Town Street and promote Leeds Credit Union.

It is really great to see local activism dissuading local residents from using pay-day lenders and loan sharks and showing them the better alternative of the Credit Union, benefiting all the community by ensuring money stays in the local economy.”
