About Rachel
I am proud to serve as Member of Parliament for Leeds West and the Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer.
I came into politics because I want to see a government that cares about working people. As a child growing up in the 1980s and 1990s, we had a government that just didn’t care about ordinary families and ordinary schools like the one I went to. There weren’t enough textbooks to go around and the school library had to be converted into a classroom. It is the same today after fourteen years of Conservative government.
How do you achieve your potential as a country if your kids aren’t being given the best education and the best opportunities in life? You can’t.
I want to be the next Labour chancellor that changes this. I want to build an economy that gives everyone the opportunities they need to thrive, no matter where they are from, so the next generation can be better off than the last.
