I would like to say a big thank you to all who gave up their time to help in the local election campaign. Without your help we would not have succeeded in holding Armley, Bramley and Kirkstall, and making significant gains in Farnley and Wortley. Thank you to our candidates, Matt, Caroline, Fiona and Jim, their agents, Jo, Roland, Andy and Richard, along with our CLP Campaign Coordinator Katie for all their hard work in running these campaigns, particularly in the face of unusual circumstances and restrictions.

Whilst the results nationally were not what we had hoped for, we managed to see Labour gains in Leeds, and keep Leeds Labour overall. In Leeds West, we saw an increased majority in Kirkstall, and gained significantly in Farnley and Wortley, losing by fewer than 150 votes. As well as winning in Bramley and Armley, we were also able to elect our first West Yorkshire Mayor, and the First Female Metro Mayor – Tracy Brabin, who is already working hard to enact her manifesto pledges to benefit everyone in West Yorkshire. These campaign successes in Leeds and West Yorkshire are testament to the hard work of our members, so thank you to all who took time out to help, whether that was calling voters, stuffing envelopes or door-knocking or through donations!
