When we left the European Union on 31 January 2020, the Prime Minister made a promise that goods moving between Great Britain and Northern Ireland would face no further checks or tariffs.
Today we learnt that the Government has broken that promise. In my response to Rt Hon Michael Gove MP’s statement on this, I asked him to confirm what the additional administrative requirements will be, how checks will be carried out on animals and agricultural food and whether these checks will be physical.
