Bramley Veteran Secures Service Medal

Rachel Reeves Kevin Ritchie Peter Paylor

Following the intervention of Rachel Bramley veteran Mr Peter Paylor has finally received a campaign medal for his service in Palestine following World War II.

Cllr Kevin Ritchie brought the matter to the attention of Rachel in July of this year and she swiftly contacted the Ministry of Defence to ask that Mr Paylor receive his campaign medal. Rachel was also able to chat to Mr Paylor at the Bramley War Memorial dedication ceremony about his years of service and performed a reading Mr Paylor had written about his experiences during World War II.

Rachel said:

'After meeting Mr Paylor last month at the dedication of Bramley War Memorial, and hearing his first-hand accounts of life as a young man fighting for our country, I was determined to help him get his medal for serving in Palestine shortly after the Second World War.

'I know Mr Paylor is delighted with his medal, and it goes to show that brave men and women who serve our country rightly deserve recognition, regardless of how much time has passed.'
