Rachel Reeves Labour Member of Parliament for Leeds West
The Government has contracted out key parts of our coronavirus response – testing and tracing, PPE, free school meals – but it can’t contract out responsibility for public health.
Within my role as Shadow Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, I have written to Rt Hon Michael Gove MP to highlight my concerns.
Labour support the Government to do what is neccessary to keep the public safe and resource our NHS. However a large range of issues regarding the procurement of services and supplies have been reported, and there has been very little transparency about the processes that the Government has carried out.
Government must be more accountable for testing & PPE operations, as well as the nature of contracts agreed.
